Trinity Parish Weekly Announcements
What's Happening at Trinity Church, March 11-17, 2007
Note: At the bottom of this email is a listing of the week's activities in a format you can put on your refrigerator door. Also note that our church web site has been completely updated (http://www.trinityhattiesburg.org), and copies of The Tidings and The Weekly Grail can be found there.
REPAIR WORK IN THE SANCTUARY. The scaffolding you will see in front of you in church Sunday morning is not a permanent addition to our worship! A weak ceiling beam was discovered while the sanctuary was being repainted this week. This beam is in the process of being replaced and the ceiling repaired. The immediate repair was necessary from a safety standpoint. The altar will be moved in order to accommodate the scaffolding, and that will necessitate a temporary change in the celebration of the Eucharist. We apologize for the disruption and inconvenience, and we hope to have things back to normal by March 18.
Holy Water. During the Lenten season, a vessel of holy water is often placed in a church particularly if that church does not usually use holy water during the other seasons of the year. The vessel is frequently placed near the entry door so that as people enter the nave (church) they may dip their fingers in it before crossing themselves. Such gestures are not for everyone, but some people find such actions meaningful during the Lenten season. You can read more about Lenten traditions on our
church website.
