Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp

30 Country Club Lane

Hattiesburg, MS

Dear Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Program,

Camping opportunities are provided for many Lamar and Forrest County children and adults with mental retardation through the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp. The camp is held each summer at the Gulf Pines Girl Scout Ground, Camp Iti Kana in Wiggins, and is funded by the Hattiesburg Civitan Club as well as by donations, volunteers, and community support! Your assistance is requested to add to the wonderful experience the campers have at Camp Iti Kana.

This year we are in the process of securing funds to purchase a Peavey portable public address system from Mississippi Music. This system will be used at different entertainment events as well as inside our recently completed Civitan Pavilion during the two weeks of camp. Roughly the size of a small suitcase with wheels, this PA has stores all cords, microphones, and speakers in one compact unit making it easy to transport around the camp grounds to various events.

The total cost of this equipment is around $650. We are reaching out to various camp supporters to help us raise the funds needed to purchase this equipment.

On behalf of the children and adults with mental retardation, the camp staff extends a sincere “thank you” to everyone who makes this wonderful camp possible!  Many, many lives are touched in remarkable ways through the collective efforts of all involved.

                                                            Our Best To You,

                                                            Abbie Rogers, Camp Director

Terry Daniels, Kay Boone, Chris Potin
