What's Happening at Trinity Church, September 30 - October 6, 2007
 

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT CHRISTIAN

FORMATION FOR YOUTH AND CHILDREN

There have been improvements made to the Sunday line up of Christian Education and formation events.  It is important to note we have Christian formation experiences beginning at both 9:15 and 10:15 am each Sunday.  Contact Lauren Wainwright for further information (601-818-3810). 

 

Nursery.  Nursery care is provided for infants and young children through the age of 3 beginning at 9 am each Sunday.  The coordinator for the nursery is Sarah McClure.  Parents of very young children are encouraged to volunteer their time in the nursery to assist Sarah.  Betsy McIntyre 601-544-3376 or Anna Laura Brett 601-584-0904 are the persons to contact to volunteer to assist in the nursery.  

 

Children and Youth Hour.  This is for all children and youth older than 4 years.  The program begins at 9:15 am.  Appropriate Christian formation programming has been developed for the children that attend. 

Children’s Sunday School"Godly Play" for children 2 yrs. (if potty trained)—Kindergarten (Room 3) and “Catechesis of the Good Shepherd” for children in the 1st –5th grades (Room 5) are offered each Sunday beginning at 10:15 am.   The coordinators for Sunday School are Jody Link (601-488-0551) and Leslie Hutt.

Adult Forum (Chapel), 9:15 a.m.:  Discussion of the House of Bishops Meeting in New Orleans.

 

Children & Youth Hour (Room 3), 9:15 a.m.

Blessing of the Pets, 3 p.m.
We will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi in the Garth and the Parish Hall with a Blessing of the Animals, 3 pm 9/30.  You, your cat Fluffy, your Dog Spike, Goldie, your goldfish, and any and all pets are welcome.  Animals with four legs must be on leashes or in cages. 

In addition, if you can, please bring a new stuffed animal to be blessed at the same time.  All stuffed animals collected will given to South Mississippi Children’s Shelter or another facility that cares for neglected or abused children.

The Rev. Edward O’Conner will be installed as the dean of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral on Sunday, October 7 at 4 p.m.

Future Events/Announcements

 

Bill to be Out of Town.  Bill will be out of town for clergy conference at the Gray Center 10/2-10/4.  He will also be in Oregon from 10/6-10/12.  Fr. Sam Tomlinson will preside at the services on 10/7.  If you need to contact Bill, please call his cell phone at 601-329-3538 any time. 

 

Jody Burnett will be preaching at both services on Sunday, October 28.

 

St. Anne’s Guild will meet Monday, October 8 at 1:30 p.m.  Ellen Ruffin will be discussing children’s literature collections at USM.

 

Christian Education Commission Meeting, October 9 at 6 p.m.  Anyone interested in serving on this commission please come to this meeting or contact Lauren Wainwright at 601-554-5551.

 

St. Francis Guild will meet Thursday October 11 at 11:45 a.m.  Please call the church office (601-544-5551) or Peggy Regl (261—1109) by 12 noon Wednesday, October 10 to make your lunch reservations.  Gill Hoffman will be our speaker.

 

Sunday School Teachers Wanted.  If you have a child between 6 and 12 years of age, we need you to volunteer to be a Sunday School Teacher.  Please contact the school office or Jody Link or Leslie Hutt.

 

NEEDED: CASSEROLES, SOUPS, BREADS:   Help St. Anne’s keep its freezer stocked for delivery to our ill and convalescing, the bereaved and families with new babies. Whenever preparing for your family, make extra, label with directions as needed, bring to the church office. Breads can be banana nut, date nut etc.  Thanks!!!

 

Jody Burnett’s Purse. If you are interested in helping Jody Burnett while he is in seminary, you can write a check to Trinity Church and put in the envelopes provided in the pews that have Jody’s name on it.  If you give cash, please indicate your name and address on the outside of the envelope. You do not have to put Jody’s name on the memo line of your check.  Just put it in the envelope with Jody’s name on it.  Contributions designated to specific individuals on your checks are not tax deductible. Jody would like to acknowledge your gifts, so we will provide him with names and addresses but not amounts.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the church office.

 

Tempered glass in all interior classroom & office doors. To protect children, youth, adults, and staff against any form of harassment, glass panels have been installed in all office and classroom doors. If you would like to donate $85 in memory of a loved one, a plaque will be installed on the door stating, “Window given in loving memory of XXXX by YYYY.” 15 of our 24 windows have been purchased in memory of or in honor of someone.  You may still purchase a window.

 

The October Let’s Get Acquainted Open House at Fr. Bill and Sunshine’s home for last names Saenz-Walker has been rescheduled to October 14.

 

An Evensong Service has been scheduled for Sunday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m.
