SPECIAL EVENTS THIS WEEK:  Second Annual Thanksgiving Worship Service and Potluck Thanksgiving Meal

We will celebrate Holy Communion at Trinity Church at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22 with a Potluck meal in the Parish Hall.  This is a great opportunity for those who do not have family in the area to get together with their church family and share fellowship and thanksgiving.  Fr. Bill will cook the turkeys, gravy, and stuffing (oyster stuffing and "regular" stuffing), and the church will provide the wine.  Everyone is welcome to attend this meal (last year we had about 30 people participate).

If you plan to come to the meal, please call the church office to volunteer to bring a dish in one of the following categories:

Potato, sweet potato, or yam side dish

Hot vegetable side dish

Hot Casserole

Green salad

Fruit Salad

Cranberry, pickle, olive, or other such side dish

Future Events and Announcements

  • Christmas PageantThis year's Trinity Children's Christmas Play in well underway. The play is going to be on the evening of Sunday, December 23rd. We would love for all Trinity children aged four and up to be a part of this event! If you would like to help, call Betsy McIntire at 544-3376. Thank you.
  • World AIDS Day - December 1.  Established by the World Health Organization in 1988, World AIDS Day serves to focus global attention on the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Observance of this day provides an opportunity for governments, national AIDS programs, faith organizations, community organizations and individuals to demonstrate the importance of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
  • Calendars, Thread and Yarn Wanted.  Here's a chance to clear out some unneeded things from your overcrowded storage areas. The Daughters of the King are collecting 2008 calendars & [wall or desk size] to distribute to those living in Veterans' Homes [such as the one in Collins].  They also would love to have your excess spools of sewing thread, embroidery floss, and balls or skeins of knitting yarn.  They will be sending these craft supplies to women in the Dominican Republic for them to make things to give orphans and those in assisted living homes.  Please bring these supplies to the office by the end of December.
  • Breadbasket Churches will be taking applications for their 84 Christmas baskets starting November 26 through December 7.  Trinity will be furnishing the green beans (we need 90 cans) and powdered Great Value orange juice (we need 42).  These items are needed by Wednesday, December 12.  The boxes will be packed with the staple items on Sunday, December 16 at 2 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church and delivery of the boxes will be on Friday, December 21 at 2 pm from Westminster Presbyterian Church.  If you would like to take part in this very rewarding service ministry, call Karen Shappley at 601-268-6962.  Families are encouraged to take part and children are especially encouraged to help.

  • An Inconvenient Truth coming in Lent.  We are currently assembling the materials to do an adult study of Nobel Prize Winner Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth during the Rector's Forum.  A study guide will be provided.  The film puts forth the argument that we can no longer afford to view global warming as a political issue - rather, it is the biggest moral challenges facing our global civilization.  In order to be sure we prepare sufficient study materials, please email Bill at wgstroop@earthlink.net if you are interested in participating.

  • Jody Burnett's Purse

If you are interested in helping Jody Burnett while he is in seminary, you can write a check to Trinity Church and put in the envelopes provided in the pews that have Jody's name on it.  If you give cash, please indi-cate your name and address on the outside of the envelope. You do not have to put Jody's name on the memo line of your check.  Just put it in an envelope with Jody's name on it.  Contributions designated to a specific individual on your checks are not tax deductible. Jody would like to acknowledge your gifts, so we will provide him with names and addresses but not amounts.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the church office.
