Alms Counters Needed.  In order to comply with Diocesan policies and procedures, we have to change the way we count alms received on Sunday morning.  We need to recruit people who are willing and able to come to church on Mondays to count.  Two counters unrelated by marriage or family ties are needed each Monday.  Training will be provided.  We are looking for 8 to ten people total so that a once-per-month schedule can be developed.  This is a good ministry for retired persons.  If you are interested, please contact the church office at 601-544-5551.

HAPPENING REUNION:  A MESSAGE FROM FR. BILL BARFIELD

We have been asked to host Happening Reunion at Ascension on the weekend of March 2-4th.  During the weekend, former Happening folks (usually college students) will spend a weekend together while a Happening weekend is taking place near by (this time, Trinity Hattiesburg).  As well as 'revisiting' their spiritual journeys which may have begun at Happening, Reunioners support the Happening weekend with prayers, Caritas (Happening weekend surprises for participants), a video presentation, and assisting with a main Saturday night event.  As "Hosts", we are asked to support the supporters! As the host church, we not only provide a space for the reunion to take place, we also provide food. Below is the schedule of meals for Reunion:

Friday: Snacks (Sodas, Chips, Trail Mix, Cookies, etc)

Saturday: Breakfast (Egg & Sausage Casserole, Juices, Bagels, etc.)

Saturday: Snacks (Sodas, Chips, Trail Mix, Cookies, etc)

Saturday: Lunch (Lenny's Sandwich Tray, Chips, Cookies, etc)

Saturday: Dinner ( A 'Nice' meal! such as Baked Chicken, veggies, bread & dessert)

Sunday: Breakfast (pick up foods such as Bagels w/cream cheese, coffee cake and juice)

We usually have around 20 folks attend (spiritual director, sponsors & students); I will know more exact numbers the closer to the weekend.

Please let me know if you are willing to be responsible for one of the meals or snacks above.  It is wonderful to work in pairs or groups...and if I have several of you sign up for one meal, I will see if you are willing to work together (if other meal are taken).  Reunioners really do appreciate your help...they also like to meet the folks to support them, so I hope you will also plan to "hang out" a little bit during your meal.

You can let me know which meal either by email or by phone (601-818-9227). Please let me know.
