Trinity Episcopal Church is an open and diverse Christian family dedicated to serving God and all creation. We foster spiritual growth through worship, prayer, education, service, stewardship and celebration. As a historic and landmark parish in a thriving and changing community we seek, welcome and nurture all who wish to share our journey. |

Bishop Duncan M. Gray, III is the ninth
bishop of Mississippi. He presides over an Anglican community over
20,000 strong. Mississippi Episcopalians constitute less than one
percent of the total population of the state. However, in many ways,
we lead the state as witnesses of the Gospel of Christ.
Mississippi Episcopalians are
particularly involved in the ministry of racial reconciliation, a ministry
that has been handed down since the 1960s when the diocese took an active
role in the Civil Rights Movement. The diocese is active in the
ministry to men and women living with the affects of HIV infection and AIDS.
For over 20 years, the diocese has also sponsored an annual medical mission
to the people of the villages of San Joaquin and Concepcion del Norte in
Honduras. The diocese seeks to enable every Christian in their
endeavor to serve Christ in other people. The most important issue
facing the church during Bishop Gray's tenure revolves around issues of
human sexuality. He has made it clear, however, that the diocese will
continue the work given to it by the Gospel as it continues to wrestle with
this difficult issue. Aware that the church has weathered controversy
in the past, Bishop Gray is determined to protect the church's mission from
the negative affects of disagreement on this one issue.
On the diocesan level, Trinity is
involved. Trinity has several members on important committees, has
recently held an Annual Diocesan Council, and headed up the
Honduras Medical Mission through 2007. Trinity Church also hosted Safeguarding God's Children, a Diocesan sponsored training program for all persons who work with children (see the pictures of this event below).
