We understand that things can seem a bit awkward when you visit a church for the first time, and we know it can be particularly awkward when you visit a church that is of a different denomination from what you are accustomed to.  We hope that this page will help you feel a little more comfortable as you consider worshipping with us.

If you are not accustomed to a liturgical worship service, our services may seem a little complicated at first.  Please don't worry about "not getting it all right."  The most important thing is that you are with us, and all members were once newcomers too.  Even cradle Episcopalians "miss a beat" from time to time, and we all have stories about losing our place during worship.  Please savor the richness and beauty of worship in this place, and don't worry too much about the details. If you want to read a little about what you can expect when you visit us, click here. If you want to know what we do differently for the seasons of the church year - especially Lent - click here.

We try to do everything we can at Trinity Church to make things easier for our visitors.  Here are a few "helps" that you can expect to find when you visit:

  • Greeters:  You'll find a greeter at every entrance to the church on Sundays and near the clergy after the service.  They will usually have nametags of some sort, and their primary job for that Sunday is to welcome you.  They will be able to tell you how to find a bulletin, the nursery, Children's Church, the bathroom, and answer any question you may have.

  • Ushers:  When you enter the sanctuary, an usher will offer you a bulletin and help you find a seat, if you need. They will also direct you to the alter during communion and help you discreetly if you aren't sure where to go.

  • The Bulletin (program of service):  We print the "frame of the service" in a bulletin, including the text for the readings.  This will be particularly helpful if you are unfamiliar with the Book of Common Prayer. You will need the bulletin and the Book of Common Prayer to follow our service.

  • The Book of Common Prayer:  This is the text we follow for the liturgical worship in the Episcopal Church.  The book is in the pew rack in front of you in each pew. It has a red cover.

  • The Hymnal:  All of the songs we sing during worship may be found in this book.  It is also in the book rail of the pew in front of you. It has a blue cover.

  • Sunday School:  All children are welcome to worship in the sanctuary during the service or they may attend Sunday School.  Please feel free to pick up some colors and coloring sheets for your children at the entrance if you would like them to remain with you, or you may ask the greeter and/or usher at the entrance to the sanctuary where you will need to take your children if you would like them to attend Children's Church.
